Good morning everyone! Today is good day for two reasons – one being that it's Friday and two, Travis Scott just released his highly anticipated song, "Highest in the Room."
Of course, the first thing I did this morning was immediately go on Apple Music and listen to his new song at least three times. Then, I listened to the song in the shower and during my walk to class. Clearly, I am loving his new song!
One of my favorite parts about the song is that there is a chill laid back flow with a very catchy hook. Throughout the song, the beat gives off a trippy vibe with some ghostly sound effects. I also love the echoes he sings that are paired with alien-like background music. His voice ranges from deep to high when he echoes throughout the song, which is my favorite part because the tone gives off a hype but chill setting.
The biggest highlight, in my opinion, is the ending of the song. There is this dramatic outro filled with a really thick synth and layered vocals. I feel as though I am rising to space and about to meet some type of alien or ghost.
Of course, "Highest in the Room" is currently the number 1 trend on Twitter, but not for reasons you would think. While everyone is digging Scott's new song, people can't help but talk about the meaning behind the lyrics.
One of the main speculations that is being talked about on Twitter is the potential reference to the recent breakup with billionaire Kylie Jenner.

She saw my eyes, she know I'm gone (Ah) I see some things that you might fear I’m doin' a show, I'll be back soon (Soon) That ain't what she wanna hear (Nah)
Reports about the split went out just three days before the release of the song, so the timing is no coincidence and further supports the rumors.
What do I think?
Well, who else would the "she" be referring to? The lyrics are definitely about Kylie and I'm not surprised that the song had some type of reference to his relationship. They've been together for two years and Kylie has been a big supporter of his music.
She even posted YouTube videos about his tour.
These specific lyrics are probably the most scandalous part in the entire song.
His other lyrics and the main chorus refer to him smoking weed, which is no surprise if you've been following Travis Scott for a while.
I got room in my fumes (Yeah) She fill my mind up with ideas I'm the highest in the room (It’s lit) Hope I make it outta here (Let's go)
In fact, right before the release I was fully expecting his song to have some type of reference to weed. If you've listened to any of his songs, watched interviews or behind the scene footages online about the rapper, you would know that weed is a big part of his life.
Funny enough, in a recent interview Kylie Jenner mentioned that Travis Scott usually smells like weed.
Anyways, I understand why everyone can't stop talking about the Kylie Jenner lyric. It's juicy and scandalous. Although, I can't help but wonder why we can't just enjoy the music and appreciate his work of art!
On that note, what do you guys think of his new song? Does the song have a chance in getting a Grammy nomination? Or do you think the song is boring or expected? Leave your comments down below and I'll respond!
See you guys on the next post!
